Fostering Collaboration and Effective Modeling
To foster collaboration, this PL strategy embeds structured opportunities for educators to work together through grade-level learning teams and peer discussion protocols. Participants will engage in collaborative close reading of student-level texts and co-construct exemplar responses using the CER (Claim-Evidence-Reasoning) model. Each session includes time for educators to share interpretations, annotate texts collectively, and compare student writing samples using a peer calibration process aligned with STAAR rubrics.
Effective modeling is built into each session through live or video-based demonstration lessons. These model lessons will show the integration of close reading and writing strategies in real time, allowing teachers to see the pacing, scaffolding, and student engagement techniques in action. Facilitators will narrate their instructional moves during the modeling and invite participants to reflect on what worked, what questions arose, and how it might look in their own classrooms.
This dual approach ensures that professional learning is both practical and immediately applicable. Teachers experience the strategies as learners and collaborators before applying them as instructors.
