šŸ“š Fostering Self-Directed Learning

This professional learning strategy intentionally empowers educators to take ownership of their growth by embedding multiple entry points for self-directed learning. Participants will have access to a curated Google Drive that houses all training materials, models, templates, and research so they can revisit and explore content at their own pace. Each session will include optional extension tasks, such as applying the strategy with their own texts, analyzing student writing using the rubric, or modifying sentence stems for different learner groups.

Teachers will also complete brief goal-setting reflections at the end of each session, identifying one strategy they plan to try and how they will measure its effectiveness in their own classroom. These reflections will serve as both personal checkpoints and springboards for discussion in future sessions or PLCs.

By providing flexible resources, reflective prompts, and choice in application, this PL fosters teacher agency, encourages professional curiosity, and ensures that the learning extends beyond the session into sustained practice.
